History of the Tulsa Airport

Today, over 2,000,000 flights arrive and depart the Tulsa International Airport.  It remains a hub of Oklahoma, just as it has in years past.  The history of the Tulsa Airport is fascinating.  It started as a private airfield with little more than a grassy, muddy runway.  Within a few years, it became a destination point, even hosting several Air National Tours.  The famed Charles Lindbergh was even a frequent guest at the Tulsa Airport.

When the new airport was constructed, it was a marvel of architectural design.  The old art deco building still stands and is now the home of the Tulsa Airport museum.

This article provides a great overview of the history of the Tulsa Airport up through World War II.
