History of the Tulsa Airport
Today, over 2,000,000 flights arrive and depart the Tulsa International Airport. It remains a hub of Oklahoma, just as it has in years past. The history of the Tulsa Airport is fascinating. It started as a private airfield with little more than a grassy, muddy runway. Within a few years, it became a destination point, even hosting several Air National Tours. The famed Charles Lindbergh was even a frequent guest at the Tulsa Airport.
When the new airport was constructed, it was a marvel of architectural design. The old art deco building still stands and is now the home of the Tulsa Airport museum.
